How do you manage multi site deployments?

Hello All, 

My team has customers with a bunch of sites/locations where each site needs an entire project plan to onboard. How do you manage those using GCX? I’m just curious what other customers are doing to keep this organized and ensure the visibility for internal users and customers alike is simple as well as how you manage them functionally.

Hi @jeanettecazier! What a great question! Let me brainstorm on who could potentially share their wisdom here!

 

One thing that comes to mind is using Program Management. It allows for one project to be associated to each project, but then you (and the main customer point of contact) can look at all their projects at a high level and zoom in as needed! Here’s an article that covers it a little more:

@emaynez Thanks for your response. We have tried using program management. It has helped, but still not the best solution. So I was curious if others had thought of things we haven’t yet. I have had some conversations with others at GCX too. Just curious what other customers are doing.

Following! We have begun focusing on multi-location accounts and we’ve been trying to figure out the best way to manage this within Guide too. 

I originally thought about having one project and applying a template per each location - but I’m not super excited about that myself.  We have some accounts with dozens of locations, so the project would begin to get a little messy and difficult to manage I think.

I was playing around with the idea of using Participant tasks for any task where employees from multiple sites need to both complete the same task for their respective locations. I haven’t played around with it yet though.

@Mark Mitchell I’d love to chat about this any time. I think the biggest issue with program manager is how the PM’s select the customer to associate to the project. If they don’t know that customer already exists for another deployment it is very easy to duplicate and then the Program Manager is not successful at all. 

 

I still feel like a parent/child project relationship between projects needs to be developed.

 

@willpatterson We have tried adding templates per location and it got extremely messy really quickly and it was really hard to identify exactly which template required action or where a response was added in notes, etc. 

 

@ACraig I’d love to hear more about this. I hadn’t thought of something like this but I do feel like there is a lot of room for frustration if multiple locations are onboarding simultaneously.
